FREE family art workshops - create reflective art for SLANT 45 regional exhibit - art with impact

Stop by the Dallas Museum of Art with the whole family and encourage your children to create reflective art pieces for a regional art exhibit to be put on display in Fall of 2010.  SLANT 45 (Service Learning Adventures in North Texas), a partnership of Big Thought and the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee, is collaborating with the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) to offer these free workshops for you, reservations required.  The Dallas Museum of Art is located at 1717 North Harwood, Dallas, TX 75201. 

Led by professional artists and writers, the workshops will be held one Saturday each month from July to October and are designed to teach individuals how to reflect on their personal experiences through art.

Adult Workshops

A series of adult workshops also will be hosted during the monthly "Late Night at the Dallas Museum of Art" events, where visitors can create "Secret Service" postcards that highlight the unseen acts of kindness they have done to better the community. (NOTE: Regular admission fees apply for Friday Late Night events.) The postcards, along with reflective pieces created by SLANT 45 participants, will become part of a regional art exhibit that will debut in fall 2010 to showcase the impact that service learning has made on the youth and communities of North Texas this year.

The first family workshop is Saturday morning (July 17) from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

NOTE: FAMILIES MUST MAKE RESERVATIONS TO ATTEND THE SATURDAY WORKSHOPS BY CALLING 469-621-8989. Registered participants will receive free admission to the DMA that day (for SATURDAY WORKSHOPS ONLY).

Youth and family workshops will be held on these Saturdays from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. in the Center for Creative Connections with the following artists. Participants will receive FREE admission to the DMA for the Saturday - youth and family workshops only!

  • July 17 - Lesli Robertson
  • August 14 - Jill Foley
  • September 18 -Jill Foley
  • October 16 - Will Richey

Late Night workshops will take place on these Fridays from 9:30 - 11:30 p.m. in the Center for Creative Connections with the following artists. The workshop is included with the DMA price of admission.
