Autumn is in the air. Celebrate the harvest season at the free Fall Festival on Saturday, October 19, 2013, and Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the Original Farmers Market. Experience a cornucopia of live music, crafts and entertainment. Festivities begin at 11 a.m. each day and last into the evening.
On Saturday, the San Fernando Valley Banjo Band kicks things off in the East Patio from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kiddle Karoo’s Barnyard Bash Show goes on at noon and 1:30 p.m. in the Plaza. Children can have some hands-on fun with the Kidspace Museum from noon to 4 p.m. in Gilmore Lane. Triple Chicken Foot will be fiddling on the East Patio from 2:30-4:30 p.m. The Front Porch Band livens up the West Patio from 4-6 p.m., while the California Feetwarmers heat things up with jazz on the Plaza from 5-7 p.m. Karling & The Kats close out the night with some rockabilly honky tonk from 7-9 p.m. on the West Patio.
Kids can visit the Great American Petting Zoo and "Agventure Land" on both Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. in Gilmore Lane. Pony rides will be available for a fee. Fiddlin’ Dan & His Banjo Buddy add to the mood on both days, strolling around from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Hungry? There's a pie-eating contest in the Plaza each afternoon at 3 p.m.
A bounty of activities are happening both days in the Artisan Alley on Gilmore Lane from noon until 5 p.m. Check out pumpkin carving, leather carving, a harvest knot workshop, a live blacksmith and horse shoeing demonstration, wool spinning, and basket weaving (Sunday only).
Come Sunday, Jazz ‘N Banjos plays in the East Patio from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Enjoy the comedy and magic of Pop Haydn’s Medicine Show at noon and again at 1:30 p.m. in the Plaza. The Rocky Neck Bluegrass Band hits the East Patio from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. The Podunk Poets grace the West Patio with some country music from 3-5 p.m. Dig The Miners from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on the Plaza. The Doo-Wah Riders giddy-up between 6 and 8 p.m. in the West Patio.
