The upcoming weekend is the 9th annual Open House New York Weekend. During that time, visitors can enjoy free admission to numerous historical buildings and structures through the city, including Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx, as well as Manhattan. More than 300 tours and events are scheduled for the weekend of October 14 -16th.
The following are some of the places offering free admissions on Sunday, October 16th:
Staten Island: the Billiou Stillwell Perine House 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
On October 15 and 16 the Billiou Stillwell Perine House, the oldest house on Staten Island will be open to celebrate the Historic House Trust Festival on the occasion of the 350th anniversary of the permanent settlement of Staten Island.
During the festival, admission to the Billiou Stillwell Perine House will be free. Visitors to the house enjoy a guided tour that includes two Dutch-style jambless fireplaces and several furnished rooms. Samples of period farmhouse beverages will be served.
Manhattan: The Arsenal (in Central Park), 830 Fifth Avenue
Presently the headquarters for the NYC Department of Park and Recreation, amoung the Arsenal's treasures are WPA lobby murals, original drawings of Central Park and roof gardens with spectacular views. Guided tours will be given throughout the day: 10-4
Rail Yards Challenge Tours 12:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.
As part of the 9th Annual openhousenewyork Weekend, Friends of the High Line will offer free 30-minute guided walking tours of the High Line at the Rail Yards throughout the day.
Edgar Allen Poe Cottage: Post Restoration Tours 1:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.
Be one of the first to take a tour of the recently restored Edgar Allan Poe Cottage.

Location: Wave Hill, Bronx
Dyckman Farmhouse will be open for free all weekend! Take the self-guided tour.
Location: Dyckman Farmhouse Museum (in Dyckman House Museum), Manhattan
