Hats make wonderful holiday gifts and are quick and easy to crochet during the cold winter months. Most hats are made using 1 skein of worsted weight yarn for adults and for baby use a softer baby yarn.
A crochet hook size will vary depending on what style of hat you will be crocheting. An adult size hat usually can be made with a size J-10 or an H-8 or G-6 crochet hook.
One of the easiest ways to crochet a hat for an adult or child is this easy to crochet hat and scarf pattern featured on Joann’s Web site. The pattern is fast and easy and you can crochet a bunch of hats in no time for charities or to give to family and friends this year for Christmas.
The pattern is sized at 19” diameter and will stretch to fit a bunch of head sizes. The basis of this pattern is to crochet a chain of 37 and single crochet until it measures about 19” from the beginning.
Next you seam in the short sides of the hat and thread in some elastic. To view and print the entire free pattern, check it out here on the Web site.
