Earth Day began in 1970.  United States Senator Gaylord Nelson wanted to bring attention to environmental issues and came up with the idea of Earth Day in the 1960s. Each year, Earth Day is an annual event that is celebrated on April 22nd.   Today, nearly 200 countries around the world take part in the Earth Day event.

Earth Day is a great way to introduce all things green to your kids or students.  Getting involved could not be easier. Whether you turn off your unused appliances and turn on the energy-efficient bulbs or start a recycling contest in your school or neighborhood, you can make a difference.
