It's that time of year again!
Just over a day from now, Free Comic Book Day will strike again!
For those of you unfamiliar with this occurrence, Free Comic Book Day is a yearly celebration of comic books as produced by the comic book industry, where they create a gaggle of, well, free comic books to give away - hence, Free Comic Book Day!
Free Comic Book Day is on Saturday, May 1st, and most local comic book retailers are participating in this event, in one way or another - it's free press, after all! In addition to giving away the offered free comic books on Free Comic Book day, many comic book retailers have incredible back issue sales, as well as various other special offers to take advantage of.
This is naturally an event for all ages, as comic book publishers have produced many books for youngsters, as well as those aimed at a more sophisticated audience. Just a small sampling of the free comic books available from Dayton comic book retailers on Free Comic Book Day includes the following:
* Gi Joe #155 1/2
* Archie's Summer Splash #1
* Iron Man / Thor
* Shrek and the Penguins
* War of the Supermen
* Toy Story
There's a bunch more of course; it seems Marvel is putting out a second book, an Iron Man / Nova combo tale as well, and there are several more free books for both children and teenagers that are coming out on Saturday - the only cost to you is the gas money to drive to your nearest comic book retailer (unless you pick up more than the freebies). Whether in Dayton Proper or a bit out of the way, there's sure to be something for you on Free Comic Book Day.
