Free Classes and Halloween Workshops for Kids and Adults at Michael's Crafts

If you're into crafts of any kind, it's worth keeping tabs on the class offerings at Michael's.  Most are free and are a great way to spend a few hours on a weekend morning or afternoon.  Here are a few coming up in October:

Saturday, October 17

Fun With Beads from 1-4pm, where you can make jewelry pieces, such as earrings and necklaces.  The three hour period is broken down into 1/2 hour increments.  Several of the classes are what they call "free make it and take it," where you get to make and take home the item for free.  Others are demos and teach you how to make something on your own.

Sunday, October 25

Halloween T-shirt Making from 1-3pm.  Purchase of t-shirt is required for this one, and then you can decorate with paints for free.

Adult Mask Making Demo from 1-3pm.

Saturday, October 31

Free Halloween Event from 10am-12noon for children aged 5-12.  Get a free trick or treat pail and participate in the free make it & take it Halloween frame making class.  Children also receive a balloon and candy.

For more info:
  • There are 13 locations around CT.  Find the Michael's location nearest you.  You'll see a clickable link next to each location on the list called "This Store's Events."  Make sure to click and verify that all classes are offered at your location before heading over to participate.
  • You can sign up for email alerts to get notified of Michael's future sales and special events.
  • Sign up for "The Knack" emails, which are geared toward kids, parents and teachers.  The club includes project ideas, coloring pages, in-store children's event info, etc.  Or just visit The Knack website and check it out!  It's got great stuff, like project ideas with age ratings and time estimates for completion.  Parents even rate projects overall and give them a "messy" factor.
