Free Chapel prepares for annual 21-day fast

Fasting is abstaining from all or some kinds of food or drink, especially as a religious observance. Each year, thousands of people fast for different reasons, but a church in Gainesville, GA has turned fasting into a movement.

On January 6, 2013, Free Chapel Worship Center will begin its annual 21-day fast. For more than a decade, Pastor Jentezen Franklin has led his congregation in a 21-day fast every January to keep God first and honor God for the New Year.

Not only does the church congregation participate, but hundreds of people around the world from Canada to Africa participate, and there are countless testimonies from individuals, who experience amazing miracles as a result of the fast.

Pastor Franklin is a New York Times best-selling author and has written several books available in English and Spanish on fasting including: Fasting: Opening the Door to a Deeper, More Intimate, More Powerful Relationship with God, Fasting Student Edition: Go Deeper and Further with God Than Ever Before, The Fasting Edge, and Fasting Journal: Your Personal 21 Day Guide to a Successful Fast.
