Free Bus Rides: A thank you from Sunset Empire Transportation

For all those regular bus riders, and those like myself that keep “meaning to take the bus”, this Thursday, January 31 all riders ride free. Sunset Empire Transportation District announced its annual Ridership Appreciation Day. All services on regular routes will be free throughout Clatsop County. It’s a great opportunity to get on the bus and leave the driving to Sunset drivers. For those of us who get so accustomed to driving everywhere ourselves, it’s a great opportunity to see how we might leave our cars at home more often, and enjoy the benefits of public transportation. In Portland and San Francisco, I do this regularly, but for some reason it just seems like everything is so close I probably use my car more than I need to. For regular riders, it’s a day when you can save a little extra money and forego the search for change for your fare.

Get out and ride the bus to town or over the hill to visit a friend. Head across the bridge to Warrenton or down the coast to Seaside or Gearheart. Enjoy a day riding the bus around Clatsop County, and think about using and supporting local public transportation more. For more information on Ridership Appreciation Day, contact Elisabeth Pietila or Danielle mcBride at 503.861.7433 or visit their website at www.ridethebus.org.
