October is National Book Month and to celebrate, why not help your child's class get free books? SunnyD is sponsoring a program called SunnyD Book Spree and it couldn't be easier for parents and for teachers. All you need to do is save SunnyD UPC labels and turn them in to participating classes and the teacher can send in all the labels and earn free books. Available from the SunnyD's Book Spree site is a letter parents can send to the teacher describing the program and a flyer you can display in your community so everyone has a chance to participate when you order a free parent's starter kit. Parents, you can track each school's progress from the site as well. If your teacher isn't signed up, be sure he or she is aware of this program by sending them the link, so they can order their teacher's starter kit which they can download right to their computer. Last year, SunnyD donated 84,000 free books, so you don't want to miss out.

You could earn more than free books for your classroom with this program. Once you've earned 20 books, you continue to collect labels in hopes of winning the big prizes which could mean hundreds of free books for your school. The top five schools will earn over 1,250 free books. Any school library would appreciate that. And who benefits the most? Your children do because they are the ones visiting these libraries, year after year, scanning the titles, looking for something interesting to read. It would be nice to have them spend more time in the library because there are so many choices, than to spend more time in the library because they couldn't find a book they wanted to read. So get started, order your parent kit or have your teacher order the free teacher's kit and celebrate National Book Month with free books.
