According to a Mar. 19 report in the “Cult of Mac”, Transcast Media has just released a free updated version of the “QuikIO HD” app for iPad and the “QuikIO” app for iPhone.
These apps are an easy and fast way to move files among your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and computer (PC or Mac).
Sure, there are other options for moving files. You can email them to yourself, but this can be slow and there are limits to attached files. You could use “Dropbox”, but cloud space costs money. You could use Photo Stream, but suppose you need to move a document?
But with “QuikIO” (and “QuikIO HD”), you can send photos, videos, documents and other files very fast and easy, with no file-size limit for free. You can send files over Wi-Fi (at home, at work or at mobile hotspots) or cellular.
And you can beam over files from another location. For example, suppose you have a photo that you really want to show someone, but the photo is on your computer that's home and you are at your friend's house. Just open “QuikIO” on your iPhone and move it to your iPhone.
The previous update added Apple TV support so you can stream media to your television from your iPhone, iPad , iPod touch or computer. This is cool because it allows you to multitask on the device that's streaming. If you use AirPlay mirroring you can't multitask while streaming.
Now this new update lets you move files between iPhones and really, really fast too. For example, you can move ten HD photos from one iPhone to another in just one second, according to Transcast Media. That's pretty fast!
All you have to do is to download the free app to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and computer, then sign in with you Facebook, Google+ or email credentials. Then you can see all your files.
The “QuikIO” file for your computer is free. The apps for your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch a free for a limited time.
We'll be back next time with more news and free apps for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch!
