There are several upcoming events held by Selcra that will be fun for kids of all ages.

This year Selcra has added some extra activities at their summer Movies at the Mall event. On Saturday, August 9, it will be Touch a Truck day. Before the outdoor showing of Despicible Me 2, a variety of vehicles and trucks will be available for kids to explore. There will be fire trucks, dump trucks, construction equipment, police cars, and race cars on hand. This event starts at 6:30 p.m. at Green Oak Village Place Mall in Brighton. The movie will begin at dusk. Bring your own blankets and chairs to watch the movie. Free popcorn and drinks will be available . There will also be a raffle drawing, so be sure to register onsite.

Adventure Day at Mill pond will be held on Saturday, August 23, from 11 am - 3 pm. Families will enjoy kayaking, canoeing, catch and release fishing, rock climbing, a bounce house, and more. A Wildlife Safari Show featuring "The Animal Guy" will be held at 1 pm. You do not have to pre-register for this event, just drop in if you can.

The celebrate national "Talk Like a Pirate Day" on Friday, September 19, kid pirates are invited to a treasure hunt. Some of the activities include cracking codes, solving clues and searching for lost treasure chests. A real pirate will be sharing about his journey on his ship. After the treasure has been found, there will be crafts and s'mores. This event does cost $5 per pirate and is for kids aged 4-14. Attendees should pre-register to ensure supply counts. It will be held at Bishop Lake Campground Trillium Shelter at the Brighton State Recreation Area.
