For a short time, there are free Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry texts available through the Montrose High School. Long-time MHS substitute teacher Kay Gerke passed along the word that because the school is changing mathematics programs, there are dozens of student texts, (including accompanying CDs), teacher's books, practice workbooks, assessment books and teacher resource manuals available free for the asking. The texts have a 2009 copyright date and are published by Pearson Publishing as part of the Center for Mathematics Education project.
Ms. Gerke said that the books will be disposed of after Friday, May 24, if they are not claimed before then. This is a great opportunity for homeschoolers, alternative schools, adult learners, and anyone who simply wishes to brush up on their math skills. Some of the books have already been taken by a local private school, but there is much more material remaining. In order to claim books, contact Ms. Gerke at 970.275.2646 by Thursday, May 23. She will arrange to have the texts and other materials gathered and available for pickup.
