Free admission into Disney World or Disneyland when you volunteer a day in 2010

Disney is sponsoring a program where you volunteer your time for a day, and in return they will give you one day of free entry into the Walt Disney World or Disneyland theme park in 2010.

Free entry into Disney World?  When you're traveling with your whole family, that's some serious savings.  (Depending on how many days you're planning on visiting, park entry ranges anywhere from $30 to $80 per day for older children 10+ and adults.)  Or maybe you made a New Year's resolution to donate some time this year.  You can volunteer your time and just donate the free park pass to a charitable organization through Disney's program.  That's an easy way to make your volunteer time go the extra mile!

Here are the details:

Go to the disneyparks.com website to find "Give a Day. Get a Disney Day" program
volunteer opportunities near you.  There are hundreds of choices around CT, ranging from donating blood, cleaning up a family center or volunteering at a school or charity event.  You need to register online for the activity you choose, and you will be awarded the 1 day free pass after your service has been completed and verified through Disney's online system.

Volunteer opportunities are available not only for adults, but for children aged 6 and older when accompanied by an adult.  You can search volunteer opportunities based on your particular area of interest (e.g. animals, children, arts & culture) so you're sure to find something that's a good fit for you.

Click here for terms, conditions and FAQs about the program.  (For example, there are a few blackout dates around the holidays for redeeming your one day free pass.)  You can get only 1 free pass per person regardless of how much you volunteer, but up to 8 family members per household can participate and earn their own free pass.

If you're thinking about a trip to Disney this year, this is a great way to shave away at your vacation costs.  If you have kids, it also sends a terrific message about the value of helping others in need!
