Free AAA Roadside App now available for iPhones

“Dealing with a breakdown can be a stressful situation for anyone, even more so when you're not familiar with your surroundings,” said Marshall L. Doney, AAA Automotive vice president. “The AAA Roadside app for iPhone is another way AAA helps members get back on the road and on to their destinations. We think the AAA Roadside app is an invaluable tool for motorists, especially for those hitting the road this summer.”

The AAA Roadside app for the iPhone became available on the iTune App Store last week. Initial responses on Twitter appear to be mostly positive.

Available free to AAA members, the AAA Roadside app allows users to quickly send their vehicle location, description, specific problem and other detailed information directly to AAA using their iPhone's innovative location-based services. Of course, the AAA member can also make a voice call to AAA for roadside assistance. Either way, they will receive a confirmation that their information was received once the request is submitted.

Some early users have indicated they have had to wait, perhaps longer than expected, for AAA roadside assistance to arrive at their vehicle. They obviously did not know about or make use of the AAA Roadside App's While You Are Waiting features which allows users to search for nearby AAA Approved repair shops, Hertz car rental locations offering AAA member discounts, AAA approved accommodations, AAA offices and retail locations offering AAA members discounts on auto parts and more.

For iPhone users who are not AAA members, the AAA Roadside App also has a feature allowing them to join AAA through their iPhone.
