Norris, his wife and daughter have adopted an 8-week-old puppy from the North Shore Animal League, the no-kill shelter where Howard Stern's wife Beth is the official spokesperson. Norris spoke about the adoption on Tuesday morning's Howard Stern Show.

"The dog actually picked my daughter. That's what made the determining factor," said Norris. "This dog had a winning way about it."

The new puppy's name is "Betty" and Norris described her as a golden retriever-collie mix.

Howard and Beth Stern have three adult cats adopted from the North Shore Animal League as well as an 8-year-old English bulldog. In 2011, Howard Stern photographed Beth with a variety of adoptable animals from NSAL for the 2012 North Shore Animal League Calender as a fundraiser.
