Scottish indie band Franz Ferdinand have released the video for their new single “Stand on the Horizon.” This marks the sixth single from their 2013 LP “Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action,” via Domino Records. In the clip, the band dressed in their best gaudy formal wear, performs to an uninterested crowd. As the song picks up attendants begin getting up and dancing with each other before heading out to the beach at the end. The single is currently available for purchase.
The director of the video, Karan Kandhari, described the clip as “An awkward look at innocence and experience. An attempt to capture a sparkle in the melancholy and a warmth in the strangeness. I hope people find it both sad and funny / hopeful and human. We either achieved all of this, or totally failed and ended up with an alternative universe version of Franz Ferdinand.”
This past summer, the band performed an explosive set at T in the Park, a major Scottish music festival. They are currently performing shows overseas and will head to South America in September as a part of their tour to promote their latest disc. The previous singles taken from the album are “Right Action,” “Evil Eye,” “Love Illumination,” “Fresh Strawberries,” and “Bullet.” “Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action” is the follow up to 2009's “Tonight: Franz Ferdinand.”
