British electronic artist Frankmusik has released his latest album “Between Us” on iTunes today. The album is an acoustic take on his third studio release “Between” from earlier this year and contains one all-new track. Frankmusik’s “Between Us” is only available digitally at this point, but the artist has announced a limited edition double CD will be released later this year containing both “Between” and “Between Us."
For “Between Us” fans get one all-new Frankmusik track, “Hymn.” This song replaces “Stronger” and “How Do We Know” from the original electronic version of the album. Those two were already acoustic tracks on “Between,” so it is great to see Frankmusik did not take the lazy route and just throw them on “Between Us” as is.
This is not the first time Frankmusik has released both electronic and acoustic versions of an album. He previously earned critical acclaim for doing so with his first album “Complete Me.” In that case and here again with “Between Us” these acoustic releases show the talent possessed by the artist.
A common critique of electronic artists is that their songs lack depth and use beats and synths to hide their mediocre lyrics, but by releasing these stripped down acoustic versions Frankmusik proves his works cannot be lumped into that lot. He manages to effortlessly turn a trippy happy hardcore-influenced track like “Cake” into a beautiful piano melody.
Other highlights on “Between Us” include “Captain,” the all-new “Hymn” and “Map,” all of which allow Vincent Turner’s vocals to soar to new thrilling levels. Perhaps best of all would be the artist’s stunning acoustic take of his song “Fast As I Can.” It is impossible for a listener to miss the raw feeling and personal experiences behind these songs.
Frankmusik’s “Between Us” is now available on iTunes in the US here and in the UK here. His electronic album “Between” is also still available on iTunes here. You can preview "Between Us" on SoundCloud here.
