Thanks to all of your prayers and well wishes, 10 years-old Frankie ‘Coco’ Sanchez, Jr., a 2-time Colorado State Wrestling Champion, had successful heart surgery this past Monday morning and is now home and comfortable.
I’d like to say ‘resting’ comfortably but Frankie, Sr. says ‘Coco’ is doing so well that he has requested numerous times to go outside and play (catch) football, the doctor saying that’s okay.
Congrats to Frankie Sanchez, Sr. (one of the truly ‘nice guys’ in boxing) and his wife Darlene Sanchez, this couple and their family considered by me great friends.
Thanks to good friend Krysti Rosario along with her co-host Richard ‘The Boxing Prophet’ Solomon, who again had me as a guest on their internet boxing radio show, Real Combat Media Boxing Radio, discussing among other things the Mike Alvarado vs Ruslan Provodnikov controversy, Alvarado head trainer Rudy Hernandez on hand to set the record straight.

Sadly (per ESPN), 26 years-old Francisco ‘Frankie’ Leal passed away yesterday after suffering a brain injury that left him in a coma following a KO loss to fellow Mexican Raul Hirales in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, this past Saturday night.
Boxing injuries are never something one’s family and friends can fully prepare for, the one’s causing death being even more painful.
Nicknamed ‘ Little Soldier’, Leal (20-8-3-1, 13 KO’s) fought for a World junior featherweight title back in 2009 against Celestino Caballero of Panama.
