Everything is coming up sunflowers in Frankfort, Ohio where the town will be celebrating the majestic flower at their 15th annual International Sunflower Festival on Saturday, August 30 and Sunday, August 31.
International Sunflower Festival One of the main events of the Festival will be a Flower Show where prizes will be awarded in such categories as "Largest Sunflower Head," "Most Blooms on a Stem," Smallest Sunflower Head," "Prettiest Sunflower," "Ugliest Sunflower," "Most Unusual Sunflower" and "Best Floral Arrangement." There will also be a Children's Flower Show.
Other Festival activities include a kiddie tractor pull, a Car Show (Sunday), a Baby Contest (Saturday), a Princess Contest, a pancake breakfast, a puppet show and a 5K run.
The Festival will also include inflatables for the kids (for a small fee), Zumba for all ages and a Walk for Your Health.
The Festival's parade will take place on Main Street on Saturday at 5 p.m.
There will be plenty of free entertainment including a Variety Show, cloggers and performances by various musical groups featuring several genres of music including country, rock 'n roll, bluegrass, folk and jazz.
And don't miss the chance to watch Frankfort's Strongest Man Contest taking place on Sunday at 10 a.m. where participants will be competing for prizes in various categories.
Never fear, there will be plenty of food choices for your dining pleasure including a Fish Fry (11 a.m. - 7 p.m.), an Ice Cream Social (1 p.m. - 7 p.m.) and BBQ sandwiches and sides starting at 11 a.m.
Hours for the International Sunflower Festival are 8 a.m. - 11 p.m. both Saturday, August 30 and Sunday, August 31. Admission is free. There is a fee for some activities.
