There are rural areas in Franklin, the county seat, the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Frankfort is the capital city of Kentucky and although not a rural area, it is located in the middle of the Bluegrass Region, there are many beautiful things to see and activities to participate in.
Kentucky's capital city limits are approximately 50 miles east of Louisville and 25 miles west of Lexington. We are easily accessible to U.S. 60, Interstate 64 and Interstate 75. Our centralized location positions our city between three major airports: Lexington Bluegrass Airport, 30 minutes; Louisville International Airport, 50 minutes; and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, 1 hour 15 minutes.
Check out the Frankfort Walking and Driving Tour and the October Calendar of Events for activities going on in the next few months.
