Those who loved Victor Frankenstein's home movie starring Sparky at the beginning of Tim Burton's monster movie homage "Frankenweekenie" are about to get more where that came from in the film's upcoming Blu-ray release.
Allison Abbate, who produced with Burton the black-and-white stop-motion animated opus, told me in a recent interview that another "home movie" short -- "Captain Sparky vs. the Flying Saucers" -- will be featured on the Blu-ray editions of the release.

"It's as if Victor and Sparky made other shorts like 'Monsters from Beyond' from the beginning of the movie, and that's really special because you feel like you're getting a little more insight into their sweet relationship," Abbate told me. "And, you can have another fun romp with Captain Sparky, but in outer space. This is more like a space adventure with a Mr. Whiskers cameo in it."
Abatte said she wishes she would have had the opportunity to do more "Frankenweenie" short films.

"The 'Captain Sparky' short implies that Victor made lots of home movies with Sparky -- that the one that's in the film is just one of many," Abbate said. "It is just so adorable."
"Frankenweenie" makes its debut on Walt Disney Home Entertainment's Blu-ray and DVD on Jan. 8.
