Frankenstein is a reflection of the phobias and fears of the up and coming technological age.Of science and medicine, of ethics and morality.Of the age old question of "What is life?".Of man trying to become as god.To harness the power in which to give life without any sort of divine intervention. To discover that vital element that which separates life and death.
In order to understand life one must understand death. There is the death of the mind.As well as the physical death of the body. The cessation of the breathe, frequencies of the brain, pulse, and the beating of the heart.Just exactly how long can you possibly keep someone alive, simply thru organ transplants and the exchanging of body parts?Would it be possible to completely reanimate and shock something back to life thru a very strong electric current say like a bolt of lightning or high voltage Tesla coils?Like when electricity applied to dead frogs induces them to jump almost as if alive
Frankenstein was the name of the Dr that created the monster and brought him back to life.At first he was only capable of base thoughts and actions, was somewhat slow to speech, clumsy, and quick to anger and aggression.Written and conceived by Mary Shelly based on a nightmare she once had.Was later adapted for film in 1933 and was considered to be one of the classic Universal Studios Monsters during the golden age of horror cinema, Directed by James Whale went on to become one of Borris Karloffs' feature performances.
The infamous story of Frankensteins' monster was arguably one of the first great works combining Horror And Science Fiction.Maybe in some not so distant future what was once considered laughing stock or Science Fiction will someday become as reality.
