On Monday, December 30, Spokane-area crime fiction author Frank Zafiro announced on his Facebook page and his website that a new novel he co-wrote with Jim Wilsky called "Closing the Circle" will be available soon from retailers such as Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
"Closing the Circle" is the third book in a series that began with the hard-hitting crime novel "Blood on Blood" and continued in "Queen of Diamonds." Ania, the female con artist from their first two novels is back again for another tale of crime and corruption.
According to the synopsis on Zafiro's website, "John Pearse is a loss recovery agent for an insurance agency. When a set of crown jewels that his company paid out on resurface in the middle of a Russian/Polish mafia war in Chicago, Pearse is sent in to find and recover the diamonds. Standing in his ways are gangsters, grifters, and cops, but the biggest obstacle will be the sexy Ania, who has managed to stay one step of everyone else…until now.
"Andros Krol is muscle for the Polish mafia in Chicago, tasked by his boss to bring back more than just the diamonds. Strong and cunning, Krol is after the money Ania took, but his biggest priority is to bring Ania back to Chicago for a reckoning…dead or alive.
"Pearse and Krol are locked into a race against time and each other as they pursue the wily Ania. The circle is closing on all of them."
Like the other novels in the series, "Closing the Circle" features two protagonists who appear in alternating chapters. On his website, Zafiro briefly explained how the new book was written.
According to Zafiro, "Jim and I wrote this in the same format as Blood on Blood and Queen of Diamonds. The chapters alternate between Pearse and Krol, both written in the first person perspective. With this format, you get to be inside the head of each of these men while they pursue the diamonds, the money, and Ania."
"Closing the Circle" will be available soon in paperback and ebook editions from retailers such as Amazon, Barnes and Noble and CreateSpace.
According to Zafiro, "As for a release date, Jim and I are shooting for sometime in January, so when I said 'soon', I definitely meant it."
Wilsky and Zafiro are also working on an unabridged audiobook based on their new novel.
"[The] audio version will be available at Audible, Amazon, and iTunes some time in the next few months," Zafiro said.
Zafiro fans in the greater Spokane will be able to order the book from local retailers such as Auntie's Bookstore if they prefer keeping their money in the community instead of ordering the paperback edition online. There will also be a Kobo edition of the ebook for people who prefer that format.
