Frank Gore and the San Francisco 49ers defense turned in great fantasy football performances on Thursday night (Sept. 26). Playing against the St. Louis Rams, Gore ran for 153 yards on just 20 carries. He also put the ball in the end zone, giving him at least 21 points in most formats. That touchdown run came on a fourth down run that he broke through the secondary of the Rams.
On defense, the 49ers were even better, limiting the Rams to just 18 yards rushing for the game. The team had an interception, two fumble recoveries, and five sacks to really set the tone. Giving up only 11 points on the night didn't hurt either, as fantasy owners that decided to start the 49ers defense came away with a nice evening of points.
Colin Kaepernick had good numbers for a win, but they weren't too impressive when it comes to fantasy football. He had 167 yards passing, 11 yards rushing, and two touchdowns on the night. He also lost a fumble, though, which is exactly what Gore did to possibly ding his fantasy stats as well. Both guys likely wanted those plays back, but even sure-handed guys cough it up every now and then.
No Rams players had good fantasy days and anyone that started Daryl Richardson will be very frustrated with the outcome. He did have one catch for eight yards, but managed to only rush for 16 yards on 12 carries. He didn't get in the end zone either, possibly dooming owners that started him in Week 4.
