Frank Sinatra does still live....via his music... and the culture he represented. Here's an example... a New York restaurateur has created the Frank & Dino eatery in South Florida.
Frank & Dino’s in Deerfield Beach opened on Jan. 12, 2012 in the location that used to be another Italian restaurant—Marcello Ristorante.
Designed with brick and ‘60s-mod accessories such as black and white checkered bar stools and classy pictures of The Rat Pack in their heyday, the concept of Frank & Dino’s is Federal Highway meets Mulberry Street. “It’s our ode to Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin,” said Dennis Max, a partner of The Max Group, which is managing this new venture by New York restaurateur Carlo Vaccarezza. “You walk through the doors and go through a time warp. It’s a place to meet friends, invite friends and enjoy all the traditional southern Italian style foods I grew up with.”
The menu at Frank & Dino’s offers Sicilian favorites such as Mozzarella Caprese ($13), Stracciatella Fiorentina soup ($6) with chicken broth, Parmesan, spinach and egg and crispy Calamari Fritti ($13). Entrees include creamy Penne Alla Vodka ($21), buttery lemon Pollo Francese ($21), Scaloppine Marsala ($24) and Max’s favorite item--Pollo Parmigiana ($21), which is lightly baked with Buffalo mozzarella.
“I grew up in L.A., but my dad was a huge Vegas person,” Max said. “I grew up around Frank and Dean’s culture and music. The Italians have always been about using the best ingredients and that’s what we’re doing using San Marzano tomatoes in the sauce and Buffalo mozzarella.”
Where is it? Located at 718 S. Federal Highway in Deerfield Beach. Call 954-427-4909 or visit Frankanddinos.com.
