Frances Fox Piven, co-author of what is known as the "Cloward and Piven" strategy to destroy American capitalism, told Democracy Now! producer Mike Burke that America is in desperate need of a "popular uprising."
Not only does she see the "need" for revolution, she is ready to help in any way she can.
"I think we desperately need a popular uprising in the United States," she said.
"None of us know. I study movements. None of us know the exact formula for when those movements erupt, but it could be. And if that is true, then these people who are here are really wonderful. I would do anything to help them," Piven added.
Burke was given a tour of the camp being used by protesters involved with the #OccupyWallStreet protest.
Piven, who teaches at the Graduate School of the City University of New York, told Burke she was "so enthusiastic about the possibilities" of the protests that have been going on since mid-September.
She also expressed glee "over the marches that are occurring over postal worker issues," as well as "the sister demonstrations that are starting in Chicago and Los Angeles, and maybe in Boston."
The Blaze reported Saturday that two dozen protesters were arrested in Boston Friday for trespassing during protests of financial institutions.
“They wanted to be arrested, and we obliged,” Boston police Commissioner Edward F. Davis told the Boston Herald.
On Saturday, over 700 protesters were arrested after shutting down a lane of traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge.

Elsewhere in the U.S. on Saturday, protesters assembled in Albuquerque, N.M., Boston and Los Angeles to express their solidarity with the movement in New York, though their demands remain unclear. Occupy Wall Street demonstrators have been camped in Zuccotti Park and have clashed with police on earlier occasions. Mostly, the protests have been peaceful, and the movement has shown no signs of losing steam. Celebrities including Michael Moore and Susan Sarandon made recent stops to encourage the group.
Wealthy filmmaker Michael Moore and actress Susan Sarandon have given their support for the uprising, and socialist Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) supports the protests.
Piven was one of six recognized at the left wing Community Change Champion awards ceremony In Sept. At that award ceremony, she called for protests against what she called "right wing facism." A video of her remarks can be seen at The Blaze.
Now, she is openly calling for revolution, and offers to "do anything to help" the revolutionaries.
