Environment North Carolina has been concerned with the Fracking measures being considered in North Carolina. They recently stated in North Carolina several statements regarding this matter. Fracking is becoming a major issue in other states like Florida as well. Environment North Carolina is stating on their site : Our leaders have been trying to fast track fracking in the state since the moment they smelled gas,” said Liz Kazal, field associate with Environment North Carolina. “This is the third time they’ve changed the timeline. They can take a few more months, or a few more years, that still won’t change the fact that fracking still pollutes drinking water and puts our environment at risk.”
Will Fracking really pollute the drinking water like Environment North Carolina is arguing ? Environment North Carolina is requesting from leaders in North Carolina to keep fracking out of the State. Check out their site and comments from Raleigh at : http://www.environmentnorthcarolina.org/ .
Check out also an explanation on this technique by National Geographic at : http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2013/03/bakken-shale-oil/fracking-animation-video . Groups like Environment NC feel this can cause pollution in the drinking water and request legislators in Raleigh to stop this measure in North Carolina.
Other issues arising are landowner rights and fracking. Check out Forced Pooling and Landowner rights being discussed by RAFI-USA at :http://rafiusa.org/aboutus/ .
