Foxy Barbi Twins help expose the naked truth about fur

(c)Uncaged Films  SKIN TRADE a movie about the truths of the fur industry.

The Foxy Barbi Twins, Shane and Sia, are in a new movie called SKIN TRADE. (click the link for the movie trailer) This movie is helping to expose the naked truth about the fur industry that most people do not know about. Yes, everyone sees what the big businesses, the government and the fur institutions want you to see because they have the deep pockets to create the multitude of advertisements and such to make fur look like the most fashionable accessory in fashion today. Shane Barbi states in the movie “I think people who wear fur are trash with cash.” Sia Barbi stated, “The movie SKIN TRADE is the most informative about the cruelness of the fur industry and will make people think twice about wearing fur ever again.” They give the movie SKIN TRADE “two paws up”. When they posed for the movie posters they were getting ready but they said, “the picture was taken before professional make-up and retouching was done” but mostly that was how they looked after “they had been fighting over a vegan cookie”. They love to joke about themselves but want to make sure everyone knows this movie is no laughing matter.

Shannon Keith, of Uncaged Films and Animal Rescue Media and Education (ARME), produced this movie about the fur industry to show the society where fur comes from. Shannon is an animal rights attorney in Los Angeles, CA and her first documentary “Behind the Mask” received the Best Documentary Feature at the Film Festivals nationwide. Her vision with Uncaged Films is “liberating media” which allows her to educate the public about the truth and not what the “fur industry” has told us. The Barbi Twins share her views by stating, “Fur looks better on the one who was born with it”. The Red Carpet Premier of SKIN TRADE is at the Paramount Studios in Hollywood, CA on Feb 25th, 2010. It is an invitation only event and additional screenings will be announced on the SKIN TRADE website. This movie has many celebrities, animal activists, undercover people within the furring industry, historians, Native Americans, and many more to give people the insights of what actually goes on in the fur industry.

“Fur manufacturers in China told HSUS investigators they could sew any label they asked for onto dog and cat fur products to make them more marketable. Over two million dogs and cats are slaughtered each year for their furs and skins, mostly in China and other Asian countries.” Quoted from the Anti-Fur Society. These products are sold as trim in the United States on jackets, scarves, gloves and boots. These fur products do not have to have a label on them stating what kind of fur they are using because of the US Fur Products Labeling Act states that any product sold for less than $150 does not need a label. So think about that nice fur trim you have on your boots or gloves and maybe your matching coat and think, what kind of fur is that? You will never know, but it could be Fido or Precious. Maybe it is not your dog or cat, but it was probably someone’s.

Quotes from the Fur Commission USA:

  • The Fur Commission USA stated, “Today's farm-raised furbearers are among the world's best cared-for livestock.” Well after you watch the film you make think twice about this statement. They are not all cared for in a respectable manner and they are tortured by skinning them while some are still alive. That is just horrible torture of an animal.
  • The Fur Commission USA stated, “Our volunteer board and committees work to ensure superior standards of animal husbandry through our own certification program, and to educate the public about responsible fur farming and the merits of fur.” OK did you catch that, “own certification program”. It is independent veterinarians that come and inspect a fur farm to ensure they are providing humane treatment of the animals. Who pays them? This SKIN TRADE movie will show some aspects of that standard of certification failing.

The Barbi Twins stated that the movie “shows up-dated undercover video that the fur industry has millions of blood money trying to cover up”. When animal activists or people in general ask the fur farmers to see how they treat the animals and if they can see their normal practices they say “no”. “The film will show these animals skinned and then you can see the little animal blink in shock before dying a slow and horrific death and thrown in a pile,” says Shane and Sia Barbi. They stated, “There is nothing fashionable about that!” The biggest argument Shane and Sia Barbi have is that they hear people say they think it should be a "personal choice" to wear fur, and not be told what to wear. They think it is no longer a personal choice once something has a spine and a brain and can feel pain. It then becomes the right of the little being. When government fails to save the innocent, then we have to stand together and boycott all fur. This is because even faux fur is mostly dog and cat skin from China. The Barbi Twins stated, “Fur is on the rise, because of the fur trim, so let us make fur ugly to look at, and let us use our picture to show that fur is not a pretty fashion, it is bloody and cruel.”

Thanks Sue for the comment. Yes I agree fur is to be left on the original wearer - the animals. SKIN TRADE is going to be the best documentary to inform the prople of what really happens in the fur industry to the poor helpless animals. Yes it may be just a fox or beaver but those creatures no matter how big or small still feel pain. Don't wear fur and don't buy faux fur either as it can be real. I'm so proud of the Barbi Twins for standing up for what they believe in. We all should do that too!

I'll go watch it while wearing my long leather jacket.

Well well Saifullah, we see where you stand with fur. That is your opinion, not mine. You can wear dead, stinky, fleshy carcass around your body and somehow justify wearing it, but I'll stick to cotton!
