Foxcroft and Waterville to meet in class B girls quarterfinal game

Julia Annis had her best game of the season in leading the Foxcroft Ponies girls basketball team to a 61-47 victory over Old Town in a class B preliminary round victory over John Bapst on Tuesday evening.

Annis scored 22 points and 21 rebounds as the fifth seeded Ponies advanced to the quarterfinals at Cross Insurance Center.

Brianna Skolfield and Mackenzie Coiley also finished in double figures for Foxcroft with 14 and 11 points respectively.

The Ponies will take on 13th seeded Waterville.

Colleen O'Donnell scored 20 points to lead the Purple Panthers to a 42-34 victory over fourth seeded Winslow.

That was not the only upset in class B prelim action.

Karrie O’Donnell hit a three pointer with 40 seconds remaining to lift 10th seeded John Bapst to a 33-32 upset victory over Medomak Valley.

John Bapst will take on undefeated and second seeded Nokomis in a class B quarterfinal game at 9:05 Saturday morning at Cross Insurance Center.

Gardiner and Ellsworth also earned upset victories to advance to the quarterfinals.
