DOVER-FOXCROFT- The Foxcroft Academy boys tennis team reached the class B semifinals last season.
To reach that level this season the Ponies will need some underclassmen to step up.
"Despite losing our top four players to graduation, I believe the next ones up will be ready to pick up where the others left off. As a semi-finalist last year, I expect the same success this year,"Foxcroft coach Ryan Dankert said. " Underclassmen have been waiting for opportunities to step into the starting seven. They've had the benefit of playing against last year's starters in practice, only helping them get better. The battle within our own team for the top seven spots is our first challenge. The last two seasons, we've made it to the Eastern Maine semi-finals, so getting there and beyond, is our goal."
The double players returning from last year should be able to step up and have success in single play. Those players are - Sam Keane, Atticus Dennis, Josh Bombero and K.O. Zhong.
Henry Wu, Nick Boyd, Matthew Biamonte, Tino Ayala and Dylan Harmon-Weeks are up and coming players that will challenge for the doubles spots.
The Ponies are scheduled to play their season opener on April 22nd at Hermon. They will play their home opener on April 24th against Dexter.
