Fox's 'Human Target' Wins Renewal

Deadline Hollywood reports today that Fox’s “bubble” series “Human Target” has been officially renewed for the upcoming 2010-2011 season. While the network has ordered only 13 episodes, it’s encouraging news for fans of this throw-back actioner.

As I mentioned in my review of “Target’s” season finale in April, this is a series that steadily grew on me from its premiere in January. That finale ended on a cliffhanger, with Winston (Chi McBride) being kidnapped by an old enemy of Chance’s former employer (Armand Assante). That leaves the 2010-2011 premiere with a meaty storyline and plenty of traction.

With high-end production values, a compelling lead in Mark Valley, infectious chemistry among the cast and a central mythology that’s beginning to find its footing, “Human Target” has potential to become a hit. Ratings for April’s finale were lower than expected, though, so this will likely be “Target’s” last shot.

No word on when the show will appear on the 2010-2011 schedule, but I expect a January 2011 premiere.
