We are deep in the middle of pilot season here in Los Angeles, but before FOX views any potential new shows for their 2013-2014 line-up, the network went ahead and renewed a couple of favorites.
Breakout hit The Following from Kevin Williamson was the only drama on the list so far, but three of the current Tuesday night comedy block also made the cut: Raising Hope, New Girl, and The Mindy Project.
"From the very beginning, we felt Kevin Williamson and Marcos Siega had created a high-quality, edge-of-your-seat drama that could break from the pack, and it is exciting to see the audience responding,” Kevin Reilly said in a statement to the press today about The Following's second season renewal.
“Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy have given us two of the most compelling characters on television and the entire cast is incredible. I’m delighted to have this thrill ride continue on FOX for another season.”
As for the three comedies, Reilly added: "We love working with these talented producers and casts who, week after week, create some of the funniest work on television. These shows are creatively vibrant, they have established a loyal and passionate audience and they will continue to define and grow the FOX comedy brand next season and beyond.”
