Fox releases first trailer for new series, 'Gotham'

This past Monday, Fox released their first trailer for their new series, "Gotham". "Gotham" is set to premiere this fall and begin telling the story of a young Detective Jim Gordon as he is learns more about the dark side of Gotham City and the soon to be villains that many Batman fans connect with the doomed city.

"Gotham" is currently described as “an origin story of the great DC Comics super-villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told.”

Ben McKenzie plays the young Detective Jim Gordon who goes into his job with honorable goals but as time goes on he sees the darker side of Gotham. His mentor Detective Harvey Bullock plates by Donal Logue really makes Gordon look at reality and challenge him and his ideas of an honorable man.

When looking at the trailer fans will notice that they are going to be introduced to the young versions of Poison Ivy, Riddler, Penguin, and Catwoman. But, you will notice that Fox is beginning the series showing the death of the Wayne's and the orphaning of the young Bruce Wayne.

The trailer really shows the action of what the writers hope the show can provide to the fans. Many people have compared "Gotham" to "Smallville" and have suggested that this will be the story of the young Batman/ Bruce Wayne like "Smallville" was for Superman/ Clark Kent.
