Why doesn't 'Fox and Friends' have an on-set fact checker like Red Eye does? That would save the network a lot of embarrassment, especially when it comes to their hosts' tendencies to make completely far-out claims that are scientifically false. On a Feb. 7, 2013 airing of the morning program, viewers were given a bit of an ecology lesson that they might want to forget -- thought it's unlikely that all of them will, which is a crying shame. You see, they're not just in the business of bending the truth about politics, but now they're in the business of telling you what's in the sky so you don't have to bother looking up for yourselves. No, this isn't a joke. It's the truth.
Slate reported on Feb. 7, 2013 on the segment that aired the same morning. Shibani Joshi showed up to discuss the failure of "green projects" and during the course of the discussion she made the claim that Germany receives more sunlight than the United States. She attributed Germany's success with solar electricity with this concept. However, she was absolutely wrong. The above pictured solar resource map shows not only that the U.S. gets more sunlight than Germany, but Germany is one of the least sunniest places on Earth.
It would be nice for the hosts of Fox and Friends to apologize and make a correction to this horrible misrepresentation of science, but will any of you be holding your breath for that? Actually, Shibani Joshi should be made to make this correction since she is the one who so grossly mislead Fox News viewers with her statements.
