Fox News Boston's marijuana hit piece on Barney Frank

Fox News Boston has dug up a bit of gossip from 2007 that they're trying to turn into a big hit.  Apparently Rep. Barney Frank was present during his then new boyfriend's marijuana bust. Several plants grew along side his boyfriend's house. Frank said he was unaware of the plants until the bust.

Fox News must be high if they think Americans really care about marijuana any more. If anything Americans are ready for decriminalization. Frank has introduced legislation that would decriminalization medical marijuana. I think America is ready to go even further, and I'm not alone. Arnold Schwarzenegger wants to legalize and tax the plant. California undoubtedly needs the revenue, and the sale of marijuana would generate billions for the nearly bankrupt state.

In Washington State, the PBS celebrity Rick Steves teamed up with the ACLU to produce a conversation about marijuana and the benefits of legalization. The special is available on demand through most cable providers.  Washington's financial woes could easily be resolved by decriminalization.

During the early weeks of the Obama administration, the President hosted an online town hall meeting. Americans were encouraged to submit or vote on questions. The number one question, with over 2 million votes was about the legalization of marijuana. Sadly, the President chose to laugh off the question.

Even in Boston, where Fox News was trying to fire up Frank's base, they found mostly supportive people. If anything, they are further on the issue than their Representative who claimed he did not even know what the plant looked like. Some guy jibed, "Who doesn't know what marijuana looks like?"

Fox News Boston needs to put down the pipe, and start reporting real news. Our entire country would benefit from the tax revenue from the end of marijuana prohibition. Gossip from 2007 is not newsworthy.

Barney is a serial denier. In case you don't know, or choose to ignore it, Frank also feigned ignorance of his partner running a gay prostitution operation out of their home. His constituents re-elected him and the Dems gave him leadership posts in the House, which is no surprise. After all, with libs, it's like the old song "Anything Goes." Republicans may be hypocritical about sex, but at least they drum Barney's kind out of their party.

I actually thought it was an interesting and important story. I guess Fox thinks it makes Barney Frank look bad, but I don't. People who buy into baseless propaganda already dislike Barney Frank because he is teh gay. So, what difference does this marijuana story make? Marijuana decriminalization is more popular than gay marriage, just look at what happened in Maine. If anything, this will probably help Frank.

People who use cannabis should give to their communities if they want respect. Start organizing and helping your communities out in these tough times.

Organize a free senior car wash or something else but give freely and soon they will see you are not a contagious disease but an angel of grace.

Let genius weigh in on the issue of cannabis...
The illegality of cannabis is outrageous, an impediment to full utilization of a drug which helps produce the serenity and insight, sensitivity and fellowship so desperately needed in this increasingly mad and dangerous world."
    - Carl Sagan quote on Marijuana

“The prestige of government has undoubtedly been lowered considerably by the prohibition law. For nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase of crime in this country is closely connected with this.” - Albert Einstein quote on Cannabis

Barney Frank may smoke weed. If he does, that would go an extremely long way in explaining his delusional behavior and ridiculous political leanings. I had always been of the opinion that he had somehow been elected during his mental acuity's pinnacle, and then suffered a one of the more dramatic drops in IQ ever witnessed in public life. He reminds me of "Otis the town drunk" from Mayberry, every time he starts his condescending yaps on camera. His Fannie Mae You Tube contributions would, during ordinary time, and with educated voters, have this hyper-inflated windbag constrained to asking only one question; "Do you want to super-size that sir/ma'm"? After a month or two of intensive training; this guy may be able to handle that task.

Barney sure doesn't pay attention to his surroundings. Seriously, he didn't notice the pot, nor did he notice that a gay prostitution ring was being run out of his house? Come on Barney do you really think we buy that BS.

GOP the Neo-Cons have Sara Palin... they are scared to death. This isn't news. The only people who are bothered by marijuana are people who are oblivious to where society is at these days on issues.

Maybe they should watch something besides FOX news...

I love how people know what someone else knows or should know. Sure, a lot of people know what they look like, a lot of people don't. Think of hemp, didn't you kind of think it would look different then it does even though you were told it looked like cannabis?
How about a tobacco plant. I smoked for a long time and don't know what it looks like. Do you?

Barney Frank has been and still is a disgrace to law abiding citizens. He didn't know about the homosexual prostitution in his apartment, he didn't know what marijuana looks like, it sounds like he just doesent know much or pay attention to much around him. One of many problems with Barney is he thinks he is above the law. The IRS should be after him for the taxes he did not pay on the money made for the homosexual prostitution ring. The FBI should be after him for the marijuana grown at his home and his coolaid followers should vote him out. The Democratic party should take a look at the garbage they have in there party and take out the TRASH.

Barney Frank is an American hero in my book. Marijuana prohibition is an injustice on American freedom, and Barney is one of the few legislators that has not sold out to lobbyists. I am glad he upsets conservatives. Sign me up for anyone that makes a conservative have high blood pressure.

Valid medicinal value, it’s a victimless crime, the War on Drugs WAY too costly, too many arrests for simple possession, tax it and use the money to pay for health insurance and to reduce the deficit…Need I say more?

Woodstock Universe supports legalization of Marijuana.

Add vote in our poll about legalization at woodstockuniverseDOTcom.

Current poll results…97% for legalization, 3% against.

Listen to RADIO WOODSTOCK 69 which features only music from the original Woodstock era (1967-1971) and RADIO WOODSTOCK with music from the original Woodstock era to today’s artists who reflect the spirit of Woodstock. Watch Woodstock TV.

"Barney Frank may smoke weed. If he does, that would go an extremely long way in explaining his delusional behavior and ridiculous political leanings." Pembina, you are a moron! Weed doesn't make any of that stuff happen, and if you really think it does, you're an ignorant fool!

Also, to the "angel of grace" idiot, HALF OF THE GOOD AND KIND PEOPLE YOU KNOW ALREADY SMOKE POT, DUMBASS! Just because someone gives to the community and isnt a teenage pothead, you assume that they MUST NOT be cannabis users! At least you know the name of the plant (cannabis, not marijuana, or grass, or pot or anything else) but lordie, your perspective is just asinine and socially retarded!

Sorry for the abrasive quality this morning but HOLY CRAP you guys are DUMB!

Everywhere I look I see more and more people recognizing the indisputable fact that the prohibition against cannabis is a complete failure. Its continued myopic prosecution by law enforcement is a symptom of institutional insanity. Another noble experiment with serious, unintended, and often deadly
consequences. Cannabis prohibition has introduced more people to cannabis than if the prohibitionist had just left it alone and not said anything about it. I can almost hear Anslinger twirling in his grave. Serves him right!

Folks like DavidDestin should learn not to repeat disastrous century-old mistakes. Alcohol's Prohibition was a debacle nearly a 100 years ago. Now we have an expensive and utterly ineffective 'War on Drugs' that has taken Prohibition's place for 'Worst Government Policy Ever.'
Aside from the fact that cannabis is objectively SAFER than alcohol or nicotine, its place as a Schedule I drug is ludicrous, especially given that fully 1/4 of US states have legalized it for MEDICINAL purposes!
With 26 MILLION Americans choosing to use cannabis for recreational purposes, and only 3 million (already occupied) prison beds, where do you propose we put all of these 'criminals' David? And who gets to pay for it? I'm not going to, it's an ignorant waste of piles of money.

And CC, sure they do, that's why Larry Craig was immediately banished, right?

Barney didn't know this boyfriend was growing pot. Barney didn't know his last boyfriend ran a prostitution ring in Barney's house. Barney didn't know another former lover and executive at Fannie Mae was instrumental in relaxing lending standards that caused the collapse of the economy. Am I surprised - no. I am surprised Barney Frank can get three boyfriends in his lifetime.

  • BS 2 years ago

He friggin knew,he couldnt admit it though. It would end his political career even sooner. How people like this can get into office is amazing

  • jim 2 years ago

It certainly calls into question his judgement when he runs around with pot smoking boyfriends.

  • JR 2 years ago

Irrespective of whether pot should be legal or not, just imagine if this had been a Republican Congressman, the mainstream media would have been all over it, chastising him/her for morals ethics etc. Same with Barney's relationship with the boy prostitution ring - there truly is a double standard!
