Fox co-host Bob Beckel apologized Wednesday for remarks he made Tuesday about the prevalence of rape on college campuses, Yahoo! News reported. It is a story that is causing a lot of buzz on the Internet.
What did the Fox co-host say? On the show “The Five,” Beckel said, “when was the last time you heard about a rape on campus?"

His fellow hosts took a dim view of the liberal Beckel’s remarks, noting that date rape in particular is rampant on college campuses.
Yahoo! notes that in 2010, the Dept of Justice estimated that 25-percent of college women "will be victims of rape or attempted rape before they graduate within a four-year period."
Beckel’s apology went as follows, "It's a horrible, horrendous issue. And it's simply put, this, rape is rape. Whether it's date rape or it's somebody coming in off the campus trying to rape somebody else. I very strongly feel that way. And so, I just want to straighten the record out on that. I simply was trying to make -- there was not a distinction to make here. It simply was that date rape is rape. And that is, by any other definition, rape is rape."
Beckel’s rape comment came on in a discussion about Democratic Colorado Rep. Joe Salazar who argued in support of a concealed weapon ban suggesting that some people might be too quick to shoot someone who they suspect is intent of rape or another crime.
