Independence Day celebrates the freedom of Americans, with the brightly colored flags, patriotic music, picnics and festive gatherings across the land. Parades herald the national pride with flags of red, white and blue. At dusk fireworks light the
skies in communities across the nation. The communities of Lake County hold various picnics, gatherings, parades and fireworks. Here is a guide to some of the Fourth of July celebration in Lake County for 2009.

Hawthorne Woods July 3
There will be musical entertainment by Déjà vu, followed immediately by fireworks. Friday 6:30 to 9:00 pm.
July 3 - 4
Naval Station at Great Lakes July 3 - 4
Great Lakes Naval Station is holding a two day carnival in celebration of this patriotic holiday, which is free and open to the public. Features of the festival include live entertainment, a craft fair and fireworks. Tantric will be entertaining on July 3 and Eddie Money will sing on July 4. The fireworks spectacular takes place on July 4 at about 9:30 pm
Lake Bluff July 3 – 4
The Annual Fireman’s Ball at Blair Park is on July 3rd. Tickets for the ball are available at the Village Hall, Fire Department or at the door.
The Kiwanis 38th Annual Pancake Breakfast is at 6:30 am on July 4. The Children’s Parade is at 9:50 am, followed by the main parade off of Oak Ave. The Family Fair is held at Artesian Park from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm. In the evening there will be music by White Saddle Band and food at Sunrise Beach from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
July 4 Parades and Fireworks
Antioch 4th of July Celebration
The celebration begins with a 4th of July parade at 10 am on Main Street. A children’s fun fair follows at Williams Park. Fireworks light the sky at dusk.
Fox Lake July 4th
Celebrate Fox Lake begins with the Independence Day Parade at 10 pm. There will be a crafts show with food and music during the day. At dusk (9 pm) the fireworks will light the sky over Mineola Bay.
Highland Park 4th of July Celebration
The celebration begins with a parade at 10:00 am, followed by festivities at Sunset Woods Pkwy. Festivities at sunset Woods include a petty zoo, pony rides, food music and a visit from Elvis. There will be fireworks in the evening.
July 4 Fireworks
Lake Forest July 4th
The gates open at 5 pm at Deerpath Park. The opening band, Rock Candy! Will play at 6 pm. The nationally acclaimed Village People will entertain starting at 8:15 pm. Bring a picnic or buy food and beverages in the park. Fireworks are at 9:30 pm.
Lake Zurich 4th of July
There is a day of family friendly entertainment at Paulus Park, including food kid’s games, music and entertainment. The day ends with a fireworks display. Admission: Residents $1, Non residents $6, children under 3 free.
Libertyville July 4
Fireworks at Butler Lake Park start at dusk.
Lincolnshire July 4th
The Lincolnshire firewoks are at Spring Lake Park on July 4. There will also be special kid friendly events at the park on July 3
Round Lake Park 4th of July
The celebration at Hook Lake Municipal Road is from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm. The evening of family friendly entertainment includes live music, food, fun and fireworks.
Vernon Hills 4th of July Parade and Evening Events
The Fourth of July Parade steps off at Deerpath and Atrium Drive, just south of Hwy 60 at 9 am. In the evening there will be musical entertainment, by J.P and the Cats, at Century Park, starting at 6:30 pm. Following the music there will be a fireworks display.
Waukegan Harbor on July 4th
A Patriotic Celebration at the Waukegan Harbor runs from 7:30 pm to 10 pm. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy music by the lake. The 4th of July Fireworks are at 9:30 on the Waukegan Lakefront.
Zion 4th of July Festival “A Day Long Celebration of American Independence"
The Zion Band Shell will be the place for a full day of celebration with food, entertainment and fireworks. FullScore chamber Orchestra will present a concert of patriotic music and a tribute to Abraham Lincoln’s 200th birthday. Food booths and concerts begin at 1 pm. The fireworks spectacular will be at 9:30 pm.

Gurnee IL will not be having fireworks on July 4th this year. Come by in August on the 7th for the Gurnee Days fireworks display...it will be amazing!
actually the gurnee days fireworks are on august 15!
