If you’re not up for braving the crowds and the heat at the Taste of Chicago or the Navy Pier fireworks display this weekend, venture beyond downtown.

This 18th annual celebration features an international food court, vendors selling jewelry, ceramics and arts and crafts, plus a health pavilion and live music.

Movies in the Parks: Apollo 13
Where: Independence Park, 3945 N. Springfield Ave.
When: Saturday, July 3, 2010 (movie begins at dusk)
Cost: Free

Bring a picnic and a blanket and join in just one movie night out of dozens, hosted by the Chicago Park District.
