The color of this light-bodied rum is golden straw from aging at least two years in oak. Aromas of herbs and spices, vanilla and cloves, with notes of honey are prevalent. Surprisingly, the taste is not sweet as you might expect from the nose. A dry palate presents cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg, floral herbal notes, soft anise and a bouquet of holiday spices. Some toasted wood is balanced by a hint of citrus. The finish is spicy with hints of herbs and mild ginger; quite smooth and reasonably long.

This rum stands up well neat or on the rocks. It's excels at bringing exotic tropical flavors to cocktails, rum punches and any concoction that desires an island ambience. Mixing Foursquare with ginger beer or ginger ale is refreshing. Unlike other popular spiced rums, this spirit does not bring added sweetness to the mix.

This rum is produced by R.L. Seale at the Foursquare Distillery, one of the oldest remaining sugar plantations and rum distilleries on Barbados. Taking its name from Square Pond in the area, the Foursquare distillery was completely renovated in 1996. It is also the only remaining Barbadian owned rum manufacturer in Barbados.

R. L. Seale is a family operated company dating back to the 1820s. Their modern distillery, renovated in 1996, is located on an estate that's been producing sugar since 1636. Master distiller and blender Richard Seale takes great pride in his authentic methods of producing, maturing and blending fine rums.
