Four people were shot Saturday afternoon in northeast Atlanta – and police said the shootings occurred during an illegal drug transaction.

But who did the shooting and why remained unclear hours later.

Around noon officers responded to the Darlington Apartments at 2025 Peachtree Road regarding a 911 call about a person shot, according to Atlanta police.

But when officers arrived they found three men suffering from gunshot wounds, police spokesman Officer John Chafee said.

“A fourth male was later located at Atlanta Medical Center in stable condition with gunshot wounds,” Officer Chafee said. “It was determined that he was also shot during this incident.”

The other three were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, police said.

“The preliminary investigation indicates that the shooting occurred during an illegal narcotics transaction,” Officer Chafee said.

All four suspects were taken into custody at the hospital and charged accordingly. So far, police have not released their names or their charges.
