Four Top-35 players join already strong Travelers field

The Travelers Championship at TPC River Highands, Connecticut's stop on the PGA Tour, had its field get much deeper yesterday when four top-ranked players—Jason Day, Zach Johnson, Keegan Bradley, and Jonas Blixt—committed to play in this year's tournament. All four are currently among the top 34 players in the Official World Rankings (OWGR).

Day, currently ranked No. 6 in the world, as two PGA Tour wins on his resume—including this year's World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship—in addition to six career second-place, and 32 top-10 finishes. He has finished runner-up in majors three times (the 2011 Masters and the 2011 and 2013 U.S. Opens). He also earned a third-place finish at the 2013 Masters and tied for eighth at the 2013 PGA Championship. He'll be making his first appearance at TPC River Highlands since 2008.

Johnson, currently ranked No. 12, has become a fixture at the Travelers Championship. He has four Top 10 finishes this season, including a victory at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. A perennial crowd favorite in Cromwell, Johnson won the 2007 Masters, and is one of the most consistent players on the PGA Tour, having earned at least one tournament in seven of the last eight years. Johnson will be making his ninth stop at TPC River Highlands in the last 11 years, and has 11 career Tour victories, 56 Top-10 finishes, and has earned more than $32 million in his career.

Bradley, currently ranked No. 19, is the 2011 PGA Championship winner. One of the game's shining stars, Bradley has three career victories, four second-place finishes, 19 top-10 finishes, and nearly $13 million since turning pro in 2008. The PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in 2011, Bradley has eight Top-25 finishes in 13 events this season. A native of Woodstock, Vermont, the 27-year-old Bradley will be making his fourth straight appearance at the Travelers Championship.

Blixt, one of the game's rising players, finished in a tie for second in this year's Masters--his first-time ever at Augusta. A native of Nässjö, Sweden, Blixt is currently ranked No. 34 in the world. He has five Top-25 finishes and more than $1.2 million in earnings this season. Blixt, who will turn 30 on April 24, has two career Tour victories--the 2012 Open and the 2013 Greenbrier Classic. He feels particularly comfortable playing in majors, owning two Top-5 finishes in three starts. In addition to the second-place performance in this year's Masters, Blixt also finished fourth in last year's PGA Championship. This will be the second straight year Blixt will be playing at TPC River Highlands.

"Jason, Zach, Keegan and Jonas are some of the biggest stars on Tour," said Travelers Championship Tournament Director Nathan Grube. "Our tournament field is becoming one of the strongest in our history and the addition of these great players should create some outstanding competition and excitement this year."

Day, Johnson, Bradley, and Blixt join a field that already includes two-time time Masters champ Bubba Watson, Dustin Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Brandt Snedeker, Hunter Mahan, Patrick Reed. In addition, defending Travelers champ Ken Duke previously committed to the tournament.
