Four-star prospect Horace Spencer commits to Auburn

Bruce Pearl landed his third recruit this weekend when four star prospect Horace Spencer committed to the Auburn Tigers on Aug.23.

"It was the perfect situation for me," Spencer said. "They offered me the opportunity to start at the four-spot."

Spencer's pledge to the SEC school came hours after Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl met with the extremely athletic forward at 12:01 Sunday morning moments after his three-year show-cause expired.

The 6-foot-8 power forward is a terrific athletic and has a very athletic. He is limited offensively, with his range extending to just 15-feet, so he does most of his damage on offensive put-backs and in transition. Spencer is also a very good rebounder and shot-blocker.

"It was the perfect situation for me," Spencer said. "They offered me the opportunity to start at the four-spot."

Spencer , a native of Warminister, Penns, currently attends Findlay Prep (Nev.). The Tigers were able to make inroads with the Philadelphia area native through assistant Harris Adler, who was an assistant coach at La Salle 10 years prior to coming to Auburn.

Spencer also had offers from UNLV, Georgetown, Iowa, Maryland, Memphis, and Oklahoma State, among others. He is the second recruit from the class of 2015 to commit to the Tigers, joining Danjel Purifoy who verbally committed on Aug. 21. Pearl also received a verbal commitment from 2016 prospect Mike Cohen (Bishop Eustace, N.J.) on Aug. 21.
