Fall brings colder, windier weather to most of the country, so autumn is a great time to reassess your skin care. Here are some tips to help you have healthier skin this fall and winter.
1. Analyze your skin. Does your skin get drier in the fall and winter? Do you sometimes have chapped lips, windburn or other skin problems in the cold weather? Fall is the time to start making changes in your daily skin care regimen to protect it from the harsher winter weather/
2. Switch to a gentler cleanser. Avoid soaps and harsh ingredients and go for soothing, moisturizing cleansers.
3. Stop scrubbing your skin. Whether using a washcloth or an exfoliant, most scrubbing is harsh on the skin and can lead to dryer, irritated, even chapped skin in the colder weather. Instead, choose a light, natural exfoliating cream like this one made of sugar and salt. For even better results, try the new Macro Exfoliator that removes the top layer of skin with a diamond tip and no harsh scrubbing.
4. Moisturize every day. If you don't have oily skin, switch to a cream-based moisturizer. For daytime, even in the winter it is important to use sunscreen every day, so using a moisturizer with a broad-spectrum sunscreen is great for colder weather. At night, use a moisturizing cream loaded with peptides and hyaluronate to replenish the skin's moisture and restore collagen.
Just a little extra care will keep your skin healthy all winter.
