Mt. Vernon, NY - Four of the 7 dogs stolen from the Mt. Vernon Animal shelter have been found alive. The dogs, recovered today, include three Pit bulls and a Beagle.
The dogs were discovered in an abandoned apartment in Yonkers. Thankfully, the dogs appear to be unharmed.
The volunteers and workers for the shelter are relieved that the 4 stolen dogs were not injured, and the discovery of these dogs provides them with hope that the remaining 3 dogs may also be safe.
Tips on the shelter's tipline appear to have assisted in the discovery of the 4 dogs. A reward has been put forth for the safe return of the stolen dogs by the Friends of the Mt. Vernon Animal Shelter and Rescue Ink.
Individuals that phoned in tips leading to the discovery of the 4 dogs will be receiving a portion of the $2000 reward.
Anyone with information on the remaining missing dogs is asked to phone the Mt. Vernon Police Department at (914) 665-2500, Mt. Vernon Animal shelter at (914) 665-2444 or the Friends of the Mt. Vernon Shelter at (914)841-1001.

Yeah! Some good, good news! So glad to hear some of them have been found and are unharmed! :)
I'm so relieved that 4 of the 7 have been found safe!!! Being the sceptic that I am...........I just wonder if people know there is going to be a reward and do it for that purpose. I know, I know, it may be a far reach, but really, what would stop someone from stealing a dog and waiting for a reward to be offered. They do it with other stuff, why not an animal????

I agree with BuyMe Barbies.Yes it also makes me wonder if the purpose for stealing these dogs was the reward money ?? I supect it was for the reward money.I would never accept money for doing the right thing.

Prayer works - 4 returned safe and ok. Now waiting and praying for the other 3.
I'm so happy they were returned unharmed. However, this reward system seems to be an easy way for criminals to make a buck. Whose to say they weren't the ones who intially took the dogs? I just hope they do a thorough interview with these tipsters.
Any word on the remaining missing 3? Are the pit mix hate to think they are at the mercy of some evil dog fighters and r being used as bait dogs can't we help to rescue them too????
