U.S. Reps. Paul Broun (R-Ga), Doug Collins (R-Ga), Tom Graves (R-Ga), Bob Woodall (R-Ga) and Tom Price (R-Ga) voted against the $9.7 billion Hurricane Sandy aid package today in the U.S. House of Representatives. The measure passed with 354 voting for it and 67 against it, and now awaits a Senate vote this afternoon.
The legislation was scaled back from the initial package which was filled with money going towards unrelated projects, also known as congressional “pork”, and was rejected on arrival by Republican Majority Leader John Boehner.
The bill is expected to pass Senate without debate. This is the first legislative action of the new 113th Congress.
