Regardless of the outcome of the Super Bowl on Sunday, two former Oklahoma State football players will win Super Bowl rings. Both the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens each have two former Cowboys on their roster.
Oddly enough, Raven tight end Billy Bajema played for the 49ers. Defensive tackle Ryan McBean is the other Raven that played at Oklahoma State.
For San Francisco, defensive back Perrish Cox and Kendall Hunter are former Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Hunter was the No. 2 running back for most of the season, but suffered an injury and was on injured reserve the latter part of the season. Hunter was placed on injured reserve in November after running for 371 yards for the season. In his rookie season he rushed for 471.
Cox is a third year pro and is listed as No. 2 left corner back on the 49er depth chart. He will likely see a lot of playing time. He has 20 tackles this season. He started his career in 2010 with Denver where he started most of the season. He didn't play during the 2011 season and signed as a free agent with San Francisco to start this season.
For Baltimore, Billy Bajema is listed as a third-team tight end and defensive tackle Ryan McBean is on the injured reserve list.
Bajema played in eight games this season, starting one of them, but had no catches. This is his first season in Baltimore, after playing three in St. Louis and four with the 49ers, from 2005-2008. He is also a special teams performer.
McBean started his career in Pittsburgh in 2007 where he was on the practice squad. He played in Denver from 2009-2011 and registered 77 tackles and four sacks. He signed with Baltimore before the season started.
Oklahoma State has more Super Bowl participants than any other Big 12 school. Only Miami, (7) and Oregon (5) have more nationally.
According to the Oklahoma State Sports Information office, 17 Oklahoma State players have appeared in the Super Bowl a total of 29 times with Jon Kolb (four times with Pittsburgh), Thurman Thomas (four times with Buffalo), Dexter Manley (three times with Washington), Walt Garrison (twice with Dallas), Terry Brown (twice with Minnesota), Jack Golden (twice - once with the New York Giants and once with Tampa Bay) and Charlie Johnson (twice with Indianapolis) all appearing in multiple Super Bowls.
Former Oklahoma State players have squared off against one another in two Super Bowls - Super Bowl IX, with Terry Brown playing for Minnesota and Jon Kolb for Pittsburgh and Super Bowl XXV, with John Washington playing for the New York Giants and both Thurman Thomas and Matt Monger for the Buffalo Bills.
