Original story:
A tragic accident in Lake County killed one man and three children Friday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. FHP spokesperson Sgt. Kim Montes says the names of the victims are not being released until relatives are notified, but that they were all from Lakeland. The accident happened at State Road 33 and Groveland Airport Road around 6:45 p.m. Friday. Troopers say a 41-year old man lost control of his vehicle for an unknown reason while southbound on State Road 33. The FHP says the car left the road and the front of the vehicle “…struck several trees and a pole.” The vehicle then continued along the shoulder of the road and stopped as the roof of the car hit a tree. Troopers reported that the driver and one male child were dead at the scene, and two other children passed away at Southlake Hospital. Sgt. Montes confirmed Friday night that all occupants of the car had been wearing their seat belts, and that the driver was the father of the children. The FHP says the accident remains under investigation.
