Four people are dead after a gunman took three people hostage inside a home in Aurora, Colo. The gunman was shot by police in the early morning hours on Jan. 5, 2013.
NBC reports that police attempted to negotiate with the gunman for several hours but was shot and killed by police after negotiations failed.
At approximately 3 a.m. on Saturday, police were called to the home in Aurora after shots were reportedly fired in the home. The person who reported the situation reportedly fled the house to call authorities.
KUSA in Colorado reports that police immediately sent out emergency notifications and evacuated homes in the area. As of 1 p.m. on Saturday, Hampden Road is shut down in both directions from Kalispell Street to Laredo Street.
