Four days remain until the 2014 Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival

All over Des Moines people are hurriedly readying themselves for the 2014 Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival. Bacon vendors and restaurants are preparing their tasty bacon and bacon-filled dishes. Ticketholders are gulping down cholesterol-reducing pills and stocking up on antacids and gas pills. People who were unable to get tickets to the annual sold-out event (12,000 tickets sold out in 42 minutes) are looking for scalpers and trying to win tickets in bacon-themed contests all over the city. EMTs are readying themselves to treat all manner of heart and stomach-related illnesses. Workers at the Iowa State Fairgrounds are readying and reinforcing the Jacobsen, Elwell, and Varied Industries Buildings for the onslaught of crazed bacon-eaters that will swarm the premises on Saturday, February 1.

That's right, Des Moines, BaconFest 2014 is only four days away. In just four short days, the Fairgrounds will be swarmed from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Musicians will perform, chefs will demonstrate bacon-themed recipes, lecturers will talk about all things bacon, bacon fanatics will compete in bacon-themed games and contests, and most importantly, thousands of pounds of bacon will be consumed (over 11,000 pounds last year). BaconFest 2014: Viva Las Bacon is almost here. Are you ready?

Here is a list of the restaurants and food vendors that will be preparing all varieties of bacony goodness for the 7th annual event: Big Fork Brands, Applishus, Catering DSM, Jethro's, La Mie, Iowa Machine Shed, Quinton's, Chocolaterie Stam, Viva La Bamba, Carefree Patisserie, BBQ Addicts, Keller's Deli, Angelo's on Eighth, Cafe Fuzion, Guru BBQ, Al Dente Toffee, Campbell's Concessions, Parlo Pizza, Honeybadger BBQ, Kippy's Place, Sakari Sushi Lounge, G Mig's, Tami's Tarts, Trostel's Greenbriar Restaurant, Trostel's Dish, Gusto Pizza, Zombie Burger, Tacopocalypse, Say Cheese Grilled Cheese, Exile Brewing, Le Jardin, and Mo' Grub. What kinds of bacony goodness, you ask? Here are a couple of examples:
